2008 Center for Biomedical Neuroscience Retreat
May 19, 2008

 

The Center for Biomedical Neuroscience (CBN) held its sixth annual retreat on May 19, 2008. Carol Tamminga, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical School, was the keynote speaker. Her presentation, Exploring the Neural Basis of Schizophrenia, was preceded by other presentations by Jim Lechleiter, Ph.D., Professor of Cellular & Structural Biology; Bill Clarke, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pharmacology; and Pedro Delgado, M.D., Professor & Chiar of Psychiatry. Additionally, a poster contest provided an opportunity for CBN members to discuss their research with colleagues. A total of 42 posters were presented at the retreat.

Julianne Doyen (Department of Pharmacology) received $150 as the first-place poster winner in the Research/Technical Staff Category. Dr. Alan Frazer, CBN Director, presented the award.

 

Lauren Fletcher (Department of Neurosurgery) took 2nd place in that same category and took home $100.

Nikita Ruparel (Department of Cellular & Structural Biology) also won
$100 for her 2nd place poster in the Graduate Student category.

 

David Petrik (Department of Physiology) won 1st place in that
category and was awarded $150.
