Xing is studying the roles of hypothalamic proopiomelanocortin (POMC) and agouti-related protein (AgRP) neurons in susceptibility and adaptation to chronic stress. He will use multiple transgenic mouse models and a combination of electrophysiological, behavioral and chemicogenetic methods to identify cellular mechanisms involved in the association between depression and obesity.
