Congratulations to Allison Garrison for defending her dissertation on April 22, 2019
On April 22, 2019, Neuroscience graduate student Allison Garrison (pictured above) presented her dissertation defense titled: ‘The Role of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor in Modulating Neuroinflammation’ to a lecture hall audience, whose members included her defense committee. She then went through a review of her dissertation and a question and answer process with the defense committee, before she was notified that she had successfully defended her dissertation and would be receiving her Ph.D.! Allison is a Ph.D. student and located in Dr. Jason O’Connor’s lab. Dr. O’Connor’s research interest is focused on understanding the biological basis of inflammation-related depressive disorders. O’Connor’s lab utilizes clinically relevant mouse models for their research.
Allison was born and raised in northeast Ohio. She received her B.S. in Biology from Ohio State University 2009-2013; graduated with Honors in the Arts and Sciences with Research Distinction for completion of an honors research thesis; cum laude. Allison was married in December 2016.
