The UT System Jess Hay Chancellor’s Graduate Student Research Fellowship rotates between ten UT system institutions benefiting an academic and health science center every year.
This year, Denisse Paredes was selected to receive this prestigious award. Denisse is a fourth-year graduate student in the PH.D. program and is currently in the Neursoscience track in the Department of Pharmacology. Denisse is interested in studying the underlying biological mechanisms of stress-related psychiatric disorders such as depression. Specifically, she wants to study potential interventions that could improve the effects of psychotherapy.  Her mentor is Dr. David Morilak.  Denisse will receive a $15,000 award to use to support her educational endeavors as a graduate student at UT Health SA
The Jess Hay Endowment for Chancellor’s Graduate Student Research Fellowships is a unique graduate fellowship opportunity established by former Regent Jess Hay, who died in 2015. Mr. Hay was an extraordinary advocate and visionary leader for the UT System, as this endowment evidences. The fellowship was designed to tie graduate education to timely and high-quality research benefiting the State of Texas. Fellowships rotate between UT academic and health institutions each year.
Congratulions Denisse!
